HECTOR HEARSALL, A 6FT SCARECROW KIT 🌾
Hector Hearsall has the biggest ears in the entire Raggedy world, and there is a very good reason for them.
Scarecrows spend their days standing quietly between the human world and the hidden places.
The wind brings them secrets, while birds and insects stop to share stories gathered from gardens, fields and distant hedgerows.
Hector hears every single one.
He hears the beans creaking as they climb their frame.
He hears the snails making midnight plans beneath the flowerpots.
He can even hear the whispered complaints of carrots that have been planted too close together.
Unfortunately, Hector is absolutely hopeless at keeping secrets.
By teatime, the sparrows know everything.
By sunset, the bees have told the ladybirds, and by the following morning, the whole allotment has heard precisely what happened behind the greenhouse.
His enormous handmade ears are accompanied by an exceptionally long gingham nose, tiny button eyes and a gentle stitched smile.
Hector claims his nose can detect rain, ripe tomatoes and freshly opened biscuits, although only one of these talents has ever been proven.
Friendly, curious and a little nosy in every possible sense, Hector makes a wonderfully unusual companion for an allotment, vegetable garden or community growing space.
🌾 READY TO SEND
Hector is a ready-to-send, full-size Scarecrow in a Box kit.
He will arrive flat-packed and ready for you to stuff, assemble and bring to life at home.
When assembled on the recommended frame, Hector will stand approximately 6ft tall.
His finished height may vary slightly depending on the wooden frame you create.
His clothing may vary slightly from the photoshoot pictures because reclaimed garments are used, but it will always be carefully chosen to complement his rustic, traditional character.
👂 HIS BIG EARS AND GINGHAM NOSE
Hector’s wonderfully oversized fabric ears are individually made and stitched securely into his head.
His exceptionally long nose is cut from gingham fabric and finished with visible hand stitching, giving him an unmistakable Raggedy face.
These exaggerated features are completely intentional and form part of Hector’s individual character.
He certainly wasn’t made to blend into the background.

✂️ HANDMADE FROM FORGOTTEN THINGS
Every Raggedy scarecrow is made by hand in my little workshop using reclaimed fabrics, recycled materials, vintage finds, charity-shop clothing and forgotten textiles that deserve another adventure.
And handmade really does mean handmade.
These scarecrows aren’t designed to look perfectly uniform or factory-made—they’re perfectly wonky and proud of it!
You may spot visible stitches, mismatched fabrics, patches, different textures and quirky little imperfections.
That is all part of their charm.
No two Raggedy scarecrows will ever be exactly the same.
Rather than arriving as a mass-produced garden ornament, Hector arrives ready for you to build, stuff and finish bringing to life.
🌦️ LIVING OUTDOORS
Hector is designed for gardens, allotments, vegetable patches, community gardens and outdoor displays.
As with any character made from reclaimed textiles, sunshine and rain will naturally weather and fade his clothing over time.
This simply adds to his Raggedy character, although sheltering him during severe weather and storing him somewhere dry over winter will help preserve his stitched features and allow him to enjoy many more adventures.
