Straw Folk
Morris Monday, Original Strawfolk Raggedy Scarecrow
£95.00
Only one exists.
Morris Monday is tired.
Nobody knows exactly what he is tired from.
He spends most of his time standing perfectly still while other people do the digging, planting, watering and weeding, but Morris insists that supervising an allotment is extremely draining work.
He wakes up unimpressed, remains unimpressed throughout the afternoon and is usually ready for another nap by teatime.
His heavy, drooping eyelids and perfectly straight stitched mouth give him the expression of somebody who has just been asked to attend a meeting that could easily have been an email.
Morris isn’t angry.
He isn’t even particularly miserable.
He is simply conserving enthusiasm.
Birds frequently mistake his sleepy expression for a lack of attention, but Morris sees far more than he lets on.
He notices every missing strawberry, every overturned seed tray and every pigeon pretending it was “just passing through.”
He simply cannot be bothered to react.
With his adjustable eyelids, flat little smile and magnificently weary face, Morris is the perfect garden companion for anybody who prefers their scarecrows moody, sleepy and wonderfully unimpressed.
Morris is a ready-to-send, full-size Scarecrow in a Box kit.
He will arrive flat-packed and ready for you to stuff, assemble and reluctantly bring to life at home.
When assembled on the recommended frame, Morris will stand approximately 6ft tall.
His finished height may vary slightly depending on the wooden frame you create.
His clothing may vary slightly from the photoshoot pictures because reclaimed garments are used, but it will always be carefully chosen to complement his rustic, sleepy character.
Morris has movable fabric eyelids that can be gently positioned to change his expression.
Leave them hanging low over his eyes for his signature tired, moody or thoroughly unimpressed appearance, or move them above his eyes if you would prefer him to look wider awake.
Combined with his perfectly straight stitched mouth, the eyelids allow you to decide exactly how Morris feels about his new surroundings.

The finished height may vary slightly depending on the wooden frame you create.
🪵 YOU WILL NEED • Straw or hay • Two wooden battens, sturdy stakes or suitable garden canes • Nails or screws to create the cross-shaped frame • Approximately 20 saved carrier bags or reusable plastic bags to stuff the head • A hammer or screwdriver suitable for your chosen frame Please note: the wooden frame, tools and straw or hay are NOT included.
Each head takes approximately 20 carrier bags to fill, so start saving them from the time you order! It’s a useful way to reuse the bags hiding in cupboards and give them another purpose instead of purchasing new stuffing.
Assembly takes approximately 30 minutes, although Morris recommends taking several breaks.
Every Raggedy scarecrow is made by hand in my little workshop using reclaimed fabrics, recycled materials, vintage finds, charity-shop clothing and forgotten textiles that deserve another adventure.
And handmade really does mean handmade.
These scarecrows aren’t designed to look perfectly uniform or factory-made, they’re perfectly wonky and proud of it!
You may spot visible stitches, mismatched fabrics, patches, different textures and quirky little imperfections.
That is all part of their charm.
No two Raggedy scarecrows will ever be exactly the same.
Rather than arriving as a mass-produced garden ornament, Morris arrives ready for you to build, stuff and finish bringing to life, assuming he can summon the energy.
Morris is designed for gardens, allotments, vegetable patches, community gardens and outdoor displays.
As with any character made from reclaimed textiles, sunshine and rain will naturally weather and fade his clothing over time.
This simply adds to his tired Raggedy character, although sheltering him during severe weather and storing him somewhere dry over winter will help preserve his movable features and allow him to enjoy many more naps.
